❓Have you heard of a Virtual Colonoscopy, also known as a CT colonography?
💡Did you know that a colonoscopy can be done under Computed Tomography (CT scan)?
A Virtual colonoscopy is a less invasive way to check for cancer of the large intestine. But of course, discuss your colonoscopy screening options with your ordering physician.
• Why is a CT colonography/virtual colonoscopy done?
✅ You are at the average risk of colon cancer.
✅ You do not want medicine that put you to sleep.
✅ You do not want to have a regular colonoscopy.
✅ Your doctor determined that this type of colonoscopy may be best for you.
• How to prepare for your CT colonoscopy?
1️⃣ Follow a special diet the day before the CT exam.
2️⃣ Take a laxative the night before the CT exam.
3️⃣ Take medicine to identify colon irregularities and stool.
4️⃣ Provide a list of medications that you currently take to your doctor to determine if you can continue taking those type of medications while you prep for your CT colonoscopy.
⏰ A Virtual colonoscopy take about 15 minutes for the CT tech to perform, and you will be lying on the CT table for this.
The CT tech will communicate the instructions before and after the exam that you will need to follow.
